For Clerks and Barristers

Barrister Link is the new way for Direct Access Clients and Solicitors to connect with Barristers. With Barrister Link you can Find a Barrister. Host papers and communication and arrange fees All in one place.

We’re building Barrister Link with clerks in mind. We want to reduce the amount of time you have to spend on repetitive tasks, checks and data entry to allow you to better focus on the things that are important to you and your chambers. At Barrister Link we respect your time and know it’s the most valuable resource you have, so we want to make sure that you can use it in the best way possible.

When a Solicitor or Direct Access client arrives at Barrister Link, they are immediately presented with a list of available Barristers. They can then filter the results, specifying the type of case they require assistance with and also the date, time and location of their next hearing. Our system connects with a Barrister’s calendar, whether it’s Outlook, Google or Others, so we only show Barristers that are available at the time of booking. We automatically hide Barristers that are otherwise engaged or unable to attend that court, saving valuable time on diary checks and communication.

Once a client has found a suitable Barrister, they register for the site and provide the details of their case. You don’t have to contact the client to request their particulars, as they are already entered into our system and a case record is created. A Barrister’s clerk then notified that a prospective case has been registered and provided a link to the system which allows them to start the quoting process.

The quoting page gives you access to all of the relevant case information and you can send messages to the client directly through the interface and then make them an offer. If the offer is accepted, the client is presented with the Terms of Engagement and asked to confirm their booking. Once confirmed, the payment is automatically requested from the client. If you cannot accept the booking, perhaps because of a conflict of interest or other reasons, you can choose this from the drop down and the client will be notified, allowing them to once again search for another Barrister.

We allow you to keep a log of all communications, and if you can’t accept a hearing or conference we record the decline reason too, allowing you to generate a report to ensure you have fair allocation of work records.

Once a prospective hearing has been accepted, the full details of the case and any other relevant hearings are stored in your dashboard that you can access at any time. You can upload files, view the client’s AML documentation and also leave notes, which can be viewed by the client, other clerks and any Barrister who is associated with the case. If the case has additional hearings in the future, all of these are stored within the case details, easily allowing you to keep on top of everything as it evolves.

Our bundle system allows you to create a court bundle from the documentation you upload. We support text documents, spreadsheets, pdfs and images, which you can enter under the correct headings and change the order in which they appear. Once this has been completed, you can download a complete copy of the bundle with a click of a button, which is presented as a single PDF document that you can print or use electronically depending on your requirements.

Your dashboard also contains a diary view, which is linked to all of your Barrister’s calendars and shows all of their hearings and conferences as well as any other appointments they have. If a Barrister enters something of their own it is automatically synced to your dashboard and you can manually add entries on your dashboard which will be synced back to your Barrister’s calendar. Barrister Link is designed to make all relevant information easily viewable by anyone involved in the case, weather it’s the client, the barrister or any other clerks at your chambers, but also make sure that you have full control to organize, provide quotes and interact on the behalf of the Barrister’s that you are responsible for.

Barrister Link is full of other useful tools for a Clerk. Our organization system allows you to run reports on your chambers, so you can stay abreast of important metrics, such as incoming Payments, Assignments and the most common areas of law and court locations that your Barrister's are undertaking.

Once a hearing or conference has been completed, the client is automatically contacted and able to leave feedback about their experience and a rating for the Barrister, while the Barrister is notified and asked to leave an attendance note of outcome. We collate all of this information for you so you can better understand what your clients are looking for and better serve them in the future.
